Bermudan distillery Gosling’s are better known for their Black Seal rum, which is famously a vital component in the Dark ‘N’ Stormy cocktail.

This rum sits at the top of their range though, an older, more complex and all-round more delicious rum. Made to the same formula as Black Seal, the rum is aged for longer, developing a real richness of flavour and depth.

Drinkers should expect flavours of treacle tart, tobacco, overripe bananas, dark woodspices, rich brown sugar, faint wood char, crisp vanilla and toffee, and some juicy fruit flavours.

A rich, thick rum, Goslings Family Reserve is beautifully presented, with the bottle hand-dipped in wax, hand-numbered, wrapped in a metal band, and then packaged in a wood and straw presentation box.

All in all this is a fantastic product, that rewards slow sipping, but also makes a wonderfully luxurious Dark ‘N’ Stormy (and a very decent Corn ‘N’ Oil!)
