A well matured Glentauchers from Dutch bottlers Van Wees and their Ultimate Whisky range.
Glentauchers produces a typically light and floral spirit, prized by blenders such as Buchanan’s. A classic Speysider in many ways.
This dram was distilled on the 23rd of July 1997 and matured in a single former Bourbon hogshead until the 18th of January 2019, giving it an age of over 21 years.
The final product is a toasty and lush whisky, with notes of barrel char, spice, flowers, vanilla, cream, honey, malt, cinnamon, crunchy red apples, slight liquorice, burnt brown sugar and a touch of bittersweet espresso.
A complex and well-balanced whisky, this bottling is presented at a cask strength of 45.5% ABV, and low cask strengths (such as this bottling) can often produce incredibly luscious drams.
Just 158 bottles were produced.
