Another wonderfully old fashioned dram from esteemed bottlers Gordon & MacPhail.
This bottling contains spirit from Speyside distillery Glentauchers. Glentauchers is itself a beautifully old fashioned distillery, one of those pagoda crowned Charles Doig creations which stand as the symbols of an era of distilling. The spirit is made light through slow distillation, and features in Ballantine’s and Chivas blends.
This bottling has been aged for around 19 years, developing a gentle complexity and depth. The whisky opens with notes of sugared pastry and soft vanilla custard, followed by jammy flavours of stewed fruits, honeysuckle and rose, tinned peaches, toasted coconut, and slightly charred oak.
Bottled at a warming yet approachable 43% ABV, this is a stellar bottling from G&M.
