Another beauty from The Ultimate Whisky Company.
This time round the Dutch outfit have picked out a stunning cask from Glenburgie, a much underrated distillery found in the Speyside region. Glenburgie is a historically important part of the Ballantine’s blend, and makes a somewhat oily, meaty spirit that shines at great age.
This bottling is a perfect example of a well matured Glenburgie, having been aged in a single Hogshead for 23 years.
The dram serves up flavours of sweet old oak, kiwi fruit, orange, vanilla, peppery spice, slight white grape, oily nuts, meaty malt, toffee, buttered corn, leather, liquorice, icing sugar and salted caramel.
The Ultimate have presented this dram in its natural state, without any chill filtration or colouration, and at a feisty cask strength of 59.4% ABV.
Just 216 bottles were produced.
