Another well aged dram from Càrn Mòr’s Celebration of the Cask series.
This time they’ve picked a bottling from Glen Spey, a Rothes’ based distillery that produces a nutty, light character, and has historically been used for J&B blends.
This dram was distilled on the 9th of June 1994, and bottled on the 29th of April 2019, having been aged for 24 years in a sherry hogshead. Such a long maturation has created a whisky of real depth and complexity.
Drinkers can expect and spicy, slightly herbal dram, with notes of orange rind, dried fruits, red berries, dark chocolate, leather, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, sultanas, grapes, dark oak, and a touch of malty bread.
Bottled at 59.7% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a satisfying and weighty dram.
Just 230 bottles were produced.
