A wonderfully old-fashioned bottling with a new modern look! This Glen Spey was produced as part of the 2018 outturn of the rebranded Connoisseurs Choice range from world-famous Elgin bottlers, Gordon and MacPhail.
Glen Spey is one of the most important blending distilleries in the Diageo stable. Producing 1.3 million litres of alcohol a year, nearly all of this is used to make the J&B blend. Single malt bottlings remain rather rare. The distillery is found in the well-known whisky town of Rothes, Speyside, home also to Glenrothes, Speyburn and Glen Grant.
This particular bottling is a terrific 22 year old, distilled in 1995 and bottled in March 2018. The whisky was aged in a pair of refill American oak Hogheads. A real old-school speysider, drinkers should expect flavours of light flowers, white chocolate, vanilla, custard, sugared pastry and subtle stone fruit.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, these steps ensure the drinker enjoys all the subtleties of beautiful dram.
Just 650 bottles were produced.
