A terrific tipple from cult favourite distillery, Glen Elgin.
This dram has been bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, as part of their beloved Connoisseurs Choice range.
Distilled in 2007, the whisky was aged in a single first fill sherry butt for 12 years before being bottled on the 5th of February 2020.
Despite being a first fill butt, the sherry cask hasn’t overwhelmed Glen Elgin’s house style of lush fruitiness. The result is a dram that pours a pale bronze colour, and delivers notes of apples, figs, plums, cinnamon, nutmeg, slight pineapple, nuts, anise, cloves, cracked black pepper, rich oak, vanilla and subtle dark chocolate.
Bottled at a generous cask strength of 60% ABV, this dram packs a punch.
Just 655 bottles were produced.
