Gordon and Macphail first started as a grocery shop in Elgin, Speyside back in 1895. The shop remains to this day, but the company has grown in scope far beyond what the founders could possibly have imagined, becoming one of the world’s most highly respected blenders and bottlers of Scotch whiskies. This is one of their excellent blends, that has become increasingly rare, having originally been created for the Italian market. This is a fine blend of grain and malt whiskies, extremely approachable and easy to drink. The nose is subtle and enticing, with toffee, barley, sweet grain, malted barley and a slight spirituous edge. The palate is creamy, sweet and spicy, with a nice apple pie note and a light oak quality. The finish is short, drying and complex. A very fine blend, and an excellent value for money option.
