Flaming Heart has been one of the most successful Compass Box releases, with four expressions since its launch in 2006. It is characterised by its striking combination of French oak sweetness and peaty smoke.

This blended malt is made with peaty Caol Ila spirit, aged in refill American oak, contributing 65.6% of the finished product. Another 10.3% is supplied by a mystery highland malt, aged in a “New French Oak Hybrid Barrels”. The final 24.1% is Clynelish whisky (a hallmark of Compass Box blends) aged in “Rejuvenated American Oak Hogheads”.

The result is a wonderfully well balanced whisky, matching sweet, spicy French oak with the supple, elegant Islay peat smoke of Caol Ila. A strong oaky core provides the backbone to this dram, alongside a vanilla cream richness.

Bottled at 48.9% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this further enhances Compass Box’s reputation as one of the best blenders in the business.
