A fantastic single grain whisky from Càrn Mòr’s Celebration of the Cask series.
This time round they’ve picked out a barrel from Lowland grain distillery, Cambus (now sadly closed). Whisky connoisseurs will know that single grain whisky shines at great age, and this 27 year old, 1991 vintage is a perfect example of the style.
Aged in a single former sherry butt from August 1991 to April 2019, the whisky was bottled at grand old age of 27 years.
The dram serves up notes of oily nuts, mahogany, honey, dense dark chocolate, grain sweetness, sultanas, sherry, cinnamon, dark oak, cloves, lemon rind, cedarwood, sugared grapefruit and a touch of cardamom.
Magnificent stuff, this bottling is presented at the powerful cask strength of 60.6% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration.
Just 515 bottles were produced.
