A cracking dram of Benrinnes from Gordon and MacPhail. This bottling is another addition to their long-standing and highly regarded Connoisseurs Choice series.
For much of its history, Benrinnes practiced a form of part triple distillation, which produced a weighty, thick and delicious spirit. This method was halted in 2007, which remains the magic year to look for when buying bottles of Benrinnes.
This dram was distilled in 2004, and bottled on the 16th of July 2019, having been aged for 14 years in a single refill Bourbon barrel.
The final result is a luscious, rich whisky that offers notes of dense marshmallows, toffees, crunchy malt, chocolate coated nuts, citrus zest, slight charred oak, buttered corn, vanilla, cinnamon and fresh green apples.
A complex, well balanced whisky bottled at a warming 58.2% ABV. No artificial colouring or chill filtration was used in producing this bottle.
Just 185 bottles of this dram are available.
