A powerful dram from the Benrinnes distillery, selected by Dutch outfit The Ultimate Whisky Company.
Up until the late noughties, Benrinnes used a form of partial triple distillation to create their spirit. This interesting method of production created a meatier new make spirit, giving Benrinnes’ whiskies a distinctive profile. Whilst they no longer make whisky this way at Benrinnes, bottlings are still being released that were distilled prior to the change, offering drinkers the chance to taste a lost piece of Scotch history.
This bottling is a 2004 vintage, bottled in 2018, having been aged for 14 years in a single Bourbon hogshead (number 58).
The result is a crisp Speyside whisky, that delivers flavours of cream, honey, apples, flowers, pears, malt, marshmallow, slightly meaty oak, gentle cinnamon spice, pastry and fresh bread.
Bottled at a robust cask strength of 57.8% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this whisky offers the drinker a fully natural experience.
Just 279 bottles were produced.
