Inspired by the power of the Austrian Empire (though the date of 1863 after refers to when the distillery that bottles it, Albert Michler, was established), this is a blend of Barbados and Dominican Republic rums aged in American and French oak barrels.

The rum uses a wide range of barrel varieties, with Bourbon, sherry, port and single malt whisky casks all playing their part. The rum is matured in a solera system, and is say to have been created by “world-famous Master Blenders”.

A very good mid-level rum, this bottling serves up all the classic flavours of toffee, burnt sugar, vanilla, oak and spice.

Despite carrying the name “Navy Rum,” the spirit is 40% ABV.

An excellent choice for mixing or sipping.
