Another delicious youthful dram from independent bottlers Càrn Mòr.
This time round they’ve picked out a whisky from Auchroisk distillery, which is known for producing a heavy character with nutty, toasty qualities created through speedy mashing and rapid distillation.
This whisky is the product of a pair of Hogsheads, where it was aged for 7 years, having been distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2019. With a short maturation, the flavour of the spirit is very much front and centre here.
The final result is a buttery, malty dram, with notes of toasted grains, cereal sweetness, white pepper, some muscular funky dried fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, slight oak and toffee.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, all the natural delights of this whisky are fully on show.
Just 820 bottles of this old school Speysider are available.
