A fantastic, well-aged Auchentoshan from highly regarded bottlers, Signatory Vintage. Signatory Vintage have acquired an enviable reputation for picking out some of the very finest casks of whisky, particularly in the superb Cask Strength that this whisky joins.
This Auchentoshan was first distilled on the 19th of February 19992, and bottled on the 1st of May 2017, having rested for fully 25 years in a single Bourbon American oak barrel (cask 538).
Such along maturation has given this whisky an especially flavourful intensity not usually associated with Lowland single malts. Drinkers should plenty of oily, nutty flavours, accompanied by some dark chocolate, ginger and caramel notes. A little classic Lowland grassiness rounds out the finish, alongside a touch of Bourbon-y spice.
Bottled at a delightfully low cask strength of 47.9% ABV, this means the mouthfeel of this dram is extra buttery and succulent. Low proof cask strength whiskies are often some of the most enjoyable.
As ever with the Signatory Cask Strength range, this whisky is bottled without chill filtration or artificial colouration. This ensures that the drinker gets to enjoy the natural character of the spirit.
Just 184 bottles of Auchentoshan 25 Year Old are available, meaning that supply is extremely low and drinkers should purchase fast to avoid disappointment!
