An excellent vodka from Germany’s capital city.
Alder Berlin vodka is made at the Preussische Spirituosen Manufaktur, a distilling school that was founded back in 1874. The distillery eventually closed in 2001, but was reopened by Ulf Stahl (a microbiology professor) and a bartender, Gerald Schroff in 2009. They wanted to revive not only the distillery, but also the Adler vodka brand which had been popular during the 20th century. In 2017, the site began training distillers again, and additionally operates as a museum of distillation.
Adler is made with the finest wheat in the Brandenburg region, and made in a complicated and unique process involving organic fruit acid and silver oxide (after all, it was founded by scientist). The vodka is filtered with charcoal for purity.
The final result is a clean, precise vodka which possesses subtle fruity undertones and wheat sweetness.
A high quality option as a base for cocktails, but also good enough to drink neat!
