A delicious rum produced by Danish company A. H. Riise, this is the 2017 edition of their annual Christmas Rum!
This is a blend of rums produced at “the very best distilleries in the West Indies and Central America.” The rum is blended from the some of the very oldest stocks in A. H. Riise’s deep reserves.
The spirit has been aged in the gentler climate of continental Europe, which allows for long maturation and the development of subtle, dignified flavours. After initial maturation, A.H. Riise’s Master Blender has finished this rum in Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels, giving it a deep, and heavily sherried character.
The final product is a rum that captures the spirit of Christmas! The bottling serves up notes of rich dried fruits – figs, apricots, dates, and golden sultanas particularly, accompanied by some notes of toasted cinnamon, nutmeg, almonds, clove, molasses, brown sugar, flamed orange rind, sherry, bananas, old oak and wine tannins.
A perfect serve after the biggest dinner of the year, A. H. Riise suggest pairing this with risalamande – a type of traditional Danish Christmas dessert, a lot like rice pudding.
A rum that is not just for Christmas, this would be a welcome serve all year round.
