Venezuelan distillery Santa Teresa is well established as one of the finest rum producers in South American. Aging their spirit in a system, this is a mixture of rums aged between 8 and 12 years, which are then finished for an extra year in former Bourbon casks. This additional aging results in a rum of extraordinary quality, with delicious vanilla flavours. On the nose, this rum opens with dark chocolate, honey, maple syrup, vanilla, toffee and burnt sugar. The palate is syrupy, creamy and spicy, with a little overripe banana flavour and touches of plums, espresso and dark chocolate. The finish brings a dense spicy note, which lingers for sometime after the spirit. Delightful rum that has picked up a string of awards, winning gold medals in the Rum Masters of 2014, 2015 and an additional sliver in 2015, whilst also winning a coveted Gold Outstanding award in the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition.
