A fairly recent addition to the Glendronach range, Hielan (the title is taken is from the local Doric dialect, and means “Highland”) is a lighter style of Glendronach, which has been aged in a mixture of former Bourbon and sherry casks.
Aged for 8 years, this has a little more spicy spirit flavours than the other whiskies in their line up. The addition of Bourbon cask spirit means that strong flavours of vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and creamy oak are present here, alongside the classic Glendronach heavily sherried notes of dried fruit and Christmas cake.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without colouring, this is a thick and luxurious whisky.
This miniature offers a very affordable chance to try this whisky without committing to the cost of a full bottle.
